Greg, this is Greg. If you were an active member of DPR for 15 years like I was, then why did you sign up here with my user name? Greg Johnson in San Antonio
We've known Greg7579 for many years on DPR, he was a wild card, an adventurer, a risk taker (tripods have fallen over), he listened to encouragement about what gear to get next, he laid down the law, his law - which was pretty good IMO. It's pretty evident you are not Greg7579, so we all ask why take on his name?
The main point here is that people coming to dpREVIVED from the forums Greg7579 was involved with on DPR won't find him. Maybe you could give him back this name?? - and help us all.
I'm presuming you're not an AI bot who's sucking up social media names, and are a real person ;-) if you are an AI bot you need to learn from Greg7579 posts more thoroughly.
The evidence is not kind:
-3 days ago, @Greg7579 started a thread and stated "my favorite, "the brick"". Clearly the username and this reference would be familiar to other long term DPR members who used Fuji gear and all would assume they knew who you were.
-later in that thread "Greg7579" was asked, "... The Greg?". A few posts later he replied yes he is.
-the above comments suggest that this user here, @Greg7579 is intentionally trying to steal the fame that another created over years and many thousands of posts on DPR.
-if there is any confusion on this - the real "The Greg" was allowed back on DPR and started a thread there; using his original DPR username of "Greg7579". Oh no, will The Greg spill the beans about the issue with the username here? No actually he didn't; it was only when BobsyourUncle said he saw him on this new site that The Real Greg replied that it was not him, and that he would graciously create a different username; which he now has. And, which he has now called out the "fake Greg7579" in a reply above.
@Greg7579 (the fake one), it seems the ball is in your court - what will you do now? Given that you not only seem to have knowingly tried to steal someone else's fame, but have added to the deception by replying that you are "The Greg" from DPR, I think the right thing is for you to step up and give up this name so that the rightful owner can have it back. I cannot imagine you will achieve anything positive once people find out you intentionally tried to deceive.
Do the right thing, give the name back, start a new name and return to the forum and add value. If not, I think perhaps a petition could be started to have the admins take care of this.
