    What do you expect? it is that time of year when the sun is low in the sky: the shortest day in the northern hemisphere was only six days ago. I remember observing shadows in Helsinki once: they didnt get longer or shorter: just followed the sun as it circled the Earth.

    I once worked from Oct to Feb up in the Arctic Circle near Deadhorse, Alaska. The shadows disappeared along with the Sun ...
