New here from dpr and I have to get used to using other forums. I have this one, dpr forum, Cameraderie and Photography On the Net. POTN is the biggest and oldest with near half a million members and I have been a member there for many years, it has a Fuji sub forum. But I want to get used to these others as well. Posting photos easily is the biggest thing for me. DPR was so easy when it came to posting photos and I do not like the need to post images somewhere else and go through all that. I am hoping this forum will allow photos to be uploaded here instead of needing to be linked to other sites like Flickr. I am going to try postinga photo right now. Done with my Rokinon 21mm 1.4 and X-E1

Uhg, nope, has to be linked to a different site. So I won't be using this forum much until they can setup posting on this site ability. Any idea if and when that will happen? I was able to post a photo over at the new dpr forum, I thought these two were going to end up merging, is that so?
I see the upload file button and that does allow direct upload but only 4mb files, which means having to save extra versions of my photos just to post here. The old dpr forum could do 20mb. Will there eventually be the ability to post bigger jpegs? There's no way I want to save extra versions of 1000's of photos in case I want to post some here. Just as i was worried, losing dpr is just miserable. So far it looks like dprforum is ahead of dprevived, I hope that changes.

It can be thusly linked, but it doesn't have to be. See the up arrow on the far right of the tool bar when you're posting? Use that to upload the file.

Then look for the link insertion tool and click ono it to put the link in your post:

When we move to a bigger server, we will revisit the maximum upload size. But at the moment, no promises as to what it will end up as. It depends on how much storage we have, where it is, what it costs etc. We are aware of the 4mb limitations.

I'm not sure we need 20 MP images on the forum. However, 4 MP is marginal. In general a 2048 pixel on the long side which is pretty standard for web posting can be accommodated by the 4MP limit. However, with larger monitors and people wanting to "zoom" it turns out to be a bit marginal. People that shoot Fine JPEG only probably will need to edit their images to meet 4 MP limit. However, 20 MP is overkill and a waste of server space.

If people don't want to manually resize to fit our forum, then I think 20mb is reasonable. My Fuji X-T5 (40mp) produces 20+mb file sizes. OK - that's just on the limit and I don't mind reducing them for forum use. My Canon M50 produces 10-14mb file sizes from its 24mp sensor. Which is what I think most people will have.

But as I said, I don't know what we will end up with and it may be that most people WILL have to reduce file sizes to upload - or put them somewhere else and provide a link if they don't want to do that.
