Monochrome conversion. An in camera focus stack of nine images. Very little wind tonight so that was the first chance in a while to do the focus stacking. Shutter speed was 1/80 s, not what the site reports. The reporting of shutter speed is WRONG!

That works well in B&W. It looks almost silvery.

Very nice Andrew. Love the shading. Works well in B&W
Hope the back survived the lowish shot ?

Thanks Rich. The back is sore. I spent about half an hour outside bent over shooting flowers. It was sore before I went out though so that's not the reason. I just got up to take some pills so I can sleep. That is the worst part of this as the pain does bother me during the day but not enough to prevent me from doing most things in moderation. Sleeping though is a different story!

Lovely Andrew monochrome works really well here I like it and am enjoying that type of photography something I had never tried until recently 🙂

Hi, an interesting photo but B&W does nothing for me. One of the attractions of Hellebores is the wide variation in colour.

For you Keith. I prefer the monochrome. I do wish they were taller though so that it would be easier to photograph them since they like to look toward the ground!!

Very nice Andrew. I'm very much a colour person but the monochrome works really well in this case.

Nice to see flowers, Andrew. The B&W version is more artistic, but I like the color version more.

I downloaded both versions to check the exif, both say 1/80. This is peculiar, alright. What was the shutter speed?

Just another couple of weeks or so and I'll drive up to Azalea Park in Brookings, Oregon. They let their azaleas and rhodies grow tall and it's like walking through tunnels of flowers. When there are shafts of sunlight coming through it can make some great photography. Rich

Thanks Dave. I like colour for most things but on occasion I pretend to be artistic.

Thanks Rich. Artistic is what I was going for. Not exactly sure what that is but it is something to shoot for!

They fixed the exif display Rich. When I posted the image it said 5.6 sec and not 1/80 sec. I do wish they would fix the 'symbology' though, 1/80 s, not 1/80 sec It amazes me that so many people get that wrong! I guess it should not because I can not spell and that likely amazes people too!

I can't spell as well as I used to, Andrew. But I'd bet you can solve the quadratic equation.

I feel a pano coming on. I am working on beating four nice ones from Gill's with a great sky into submission and forcing them to stitch in a Panini projection. I shall not give up. Rich

A few years back I cracked open some fourth year electrical engineering textbooks from back in the day. I glanced through them and looked at the equations in an incomprehensible fashion marvelling at the fact I had ever understood them! Now I am not sure if I could lift them let alone understand them! LaPlace transform and Lorentz transformations, convolution integrals and so much more. Undergrad Thesis on an original digital hybrid phase lock loop of my design, a modification of the phase lock loop developed in the Bell labs in the late 60s. So long ago!

I have Hugin installed but last time I tried to use it to try different projections for a pano I could not remember how to make it work! Friday night I bad mouthed a worker from my school days and today while out driving I came to the realization that I had the correct behaviour that I incorrectly attributed to the wrong individual! The marbles are all rolling around on the floor Rich and if I step on any I may be down for the count!

    Bring on that pano!

I like the hellebore in color better this morning .. I think it separates better from the background .. Ours are still in bloom but I haven't done anything new with them .. Beautiful 65F morning but an early morning vertigo will keep me home today ... so maybe I'll get down and take another look at those flowers ...

You blooms are sure more showy than the ones we had.

Thanks Andrew for the colour version. I would have replied earlier but I have been unwell. That is a very good flower. Some of the newer varieties have more forward-facing flowers & come in a wide variety of colours. Keep on posting please..

I hope you feel better soon Keith. We have a dark purple one that is similar to the one posted. We also purchased a lighter colour one that seems to face more upright. It is young yet and not as large a plant but I do have some images of it and will try to post one soon.
