Any ideas what this is please?
It was in near darkness under some trees (eg 2nd pic) , so dark i couldnt see it, so i'm surprised the camera focussed and that I managed to get a pic from it
ps, it was in a butterfly farm so perhaps not native to the uk

Very dark but looks like a crested partridge female Rollulus something or other. Native to Indonesia but often seen in captivity in Europe.
Based on the shape and plumage, it looks like a female crested wood partridge. According to Wikipedia, this bird is a resident breeder in lowland rainforests in south Burma, south Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crested_partridge

Yes, it's a wood partridge. And the leg band is consistent with it being a non-native species kept in a collection. You should look for the male!
