I didn't receive the round-robin letter /email canvassing for votes as I’m not a member there. lol
but… I sure did vote in the poll at dpreview, days ago. www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4706996
There is already a great bunch of photographers and digital camera enthusiasts here, and I’m really excited about the future for this community, dprevived.
Everyone has their destiny.
Think of it as a process of natural selection. more lol
The votes are 3-1 in favor of DPRevived. DPRforums main selling point is they have the “look and feel” of DPR forums, but at the end what matters is the double C... community and content.
I still don’t know if DPR is actually closing or if all that is just part of some kind of stunt. Their latest article is supposed be “part 1” and more are coming, so the April 10th closure was not true?
I still harbour the suspicion that the blurring of the the closure and the removal of the “Closing 10th April” banner suggest that there might be a sale negotiation in progress…
I think somehow they will keep the shop open, but I have no interest in participating there anymore. I am done with the arrogance of some of the staff, Chris and Jordan are gone so are Gannon Burgett and Carey Rose (which I enjoy their articles and galleries) so there is not much left IMO.
I was today in a conversation on old DPR with whom I think is the owner of dprF about what I find intransparent about their plans for moderation and he insisted there was more than he could tell.
And the current text on old DPR about keeping accessible for archiving is as clear as mud.
Still why would Amazon reconsider? I am pretty sure not because of the muttering of the crowds.
Ya, that effort was doomed from the start. Considering how useful it is for companies to keep sensor size terminology as confusing as possible, especially on the smaller end ("Wow, a 1 inch sensor? Like, diagonally? That's huge!"), they might as well have been fighting windmills.
Rumor is that DPReview is not only going to survive but it will merge with Petapixel and F-stoppers!!!!! The new name will be DP-F-Pixels.com. It’s quite catchy, IMO.
