It is that time of year again, when I make copies of my old photography.

I have found my B&W negatives developed at home, even in the grotty flats I rented in London are still as good as the day I developed them, as long ago as 1975. Kodachrome slides have lasted well too, even after Fifty years. Ektachrome developed in a professional lab forty years ago are still good. My almost Fifty year old Agfachrome slides have turned purple with age, and are devilishly difficult to duplicate.

How has your photography from the past lasted?

An Agfachrome, from about 1975. The colour has almost vanished from the original.

I presume these are scans from prints.

These seem to have held up pretty well over time.

Praktica, were pretty popular back in the day. Another forgotten brand.

When my mother died in 2020, I was given thousands of negatives taken by her father (a very good photographer, but a lousy father) and her from the 1930's up to the beginning of digital cameras. I spent days digitising them for my father so he could relive memories of times they had together. The quality isn't great, but they would probably clean up well if I had time.

Here's one from the '30's which her father took and manually coloured. My mother is the young girl on the left.

and this one is from the 1960's - my mother and my younger brother.

Well, I never shot film. I began with the Canon G1. Here are a few with the G1 (3 MP compact), G2 (4 MP compact), and G3 (4 MP compact) -- they've stood the test of time for me!
