Several people have asked how I see this site going forwards. I think that it needs to be more than just a forum. Over time the forum site will be relegated from being the landing page to one of some options which will offer a more fully rounded photography site. I'm keen to include articles as well, and have this idea that they could go in two strands - one a section which anyone can publish to (so long as it's legal) and another for editorially controlled articles. We already have some really expert people signed up, so I don't think that an editorial panel will be too hard to assemble. The idea is that people coming to this site for information should be able to trust the information that they get here, at least in that part of the forum. One thing I'm very keen to establish is a body of teaching material which is reliable and consistent with the theoretical basis of photography. And we might get to reviews as well.
At the moment we're up to our ears getting the basics working, but people deserve to know where it could go.
    Other views are very welcome.
    Bob.

I'd also like to see DPRevived head in this direction eventually. I frequent DPReview's Beginner's forum and the latest beginner trend is to call all image deficiencies "pixelated". For example, a noisy image is "pixelated", and a blurry image is "pixelated". I think this trend may originate in the world of cellphone cameras. This is much, much worse than not understanding ISO, exposure, or circle of confusion. However, the answer is not teaching articles worthy of publication in an IEEE journal, but teaching articles that are aimed at the appropriate level of experience.

It wouldn’t be DPR evived 🤣 if it didn’t eventually have articles so I think that’s great.

Running a site like this isn’t free and I think most of us would be happy pay a couple of bucks a month if you could set up a recurring subscription system

About the articles: it would be good to think of them as open projects and update them regularly. What do I mean - academic publications and books are frozen in time, and if the author wants to add something, or correct something, a new article of a new edition of the book is needed. With online articles, one has that option for free, of course, but my point is to embrace it and maybe put some note(s) about the most recent edits, Wikipedia style but more visible.

Paid membership can be a site-killer, so not sure that's a good idea. OTOH, I agree that many, including yourself and myself, would be happy to help with costs. So, some system for voluntarily contributing would be best IMHO.

    Wholeheartedly agree.
