That is the same in many forums.... Pick a subject, any subject..... google it....find a forum. You will find that there are always people that post often ...day in and day out. Thousands of posts over years. I personally run out of things to 'want' to talk about' or respond to.
Just look at this forum as an example, Relatively new forum within the past few weeks and yet? Look at the numbers of some.
I have a friend whose father is getting / is old. My friend frequently says, based on some of the things his father does now, that once he didn't do, is once a man, twice a child. So be aware there's a tipping point apparently, in the "older demographic" So likely some clueless, stupid pointless advice available there as well.
Following an accident last year, I am stuck in front of the computer in my wheelchair - with my main interest being photography. Currently, I don't even dare to pick up a camera with my tactile-deficient hands - so no need for "get out there and na-ni-na ... " advice.
That's my excuse for going through new posts here and elsewhere hoping for something, anything to respond to ... hence this response LOL.
So, basically this far it seems there's little difference in share of people up to 40 years old between the sites, but most people here are in their 50's or 60's rather than in their 70's. There are also somewhat more people in their 40's here.
Obviously this needs to be taken with a large grain of salt; the sample size is so far quite small, there may be a bias about what age groups are most likely to answer and whatnot.
For some people, photography can be a lonely hobby. I don't have any friends who do photography seriously enough to want to talk about it. I could join the local club, their venue is only a 5 minute walk from my house, but years of experience tell me it's pointless - all clubs do is endless competitions. I'm not interested in that kind of social sport environment. That leaves online forums. Or I could talk to myself through the comments section of my website 😁😁😁
I've not been on this forum long and I've already learnt a lot. You don't learn as much from social clubs as most people talk about anything other than the subject matter so forums are the best place. TikTok and Instagram are just full of people showing their stuff and not actually communicating with anyone.
As the years have progressed, I have less free time because I'm working in three career fields now rather than one.
It mostly because I am no longer working for a single large corporation, but as a contract consultant to many smaller outfits. So, less time for running around with a camera. Save for 2020 when most of my clients were shut down. The. I could get around and do some serious shooting.
