You can't put it directly in 'photography discussion' as that is a section header. There is already a forum called 'this week through your eyes' and I;ve put it there.
Hello. Thank you SO much for doing this! You all who worked on this (and continue to do so) are heroes! I have one request. For those of us who are privacy policy obsessed, please post a privacy policy. I like that I had to go against my better judgement and register in order to search or reply on this site, but it would be even better if I could have read the privacy policy instead. :) Thank you again!!!!
UPDATE: Apparently I am mistaken. This is for "going forward" discussions. Content was not copied from DPR.
~~As people are still posing on DPR, will whatever background mechanisms are downloading content and threads from DPR continue to update new posts be here? If so, will it dynamically update up till the time Amazon pulls the plug some time on the 10th?
I just replied to a few threads on DPR and though I don't need to duplicate them here it would be nice if they somehow got over here. I am sure others would like to see posts dynamically updated, if possible.~~
This is pretty amazing. Thanks for setting this up.
Hopefully Amazon won't shut this down for some kind of content infringement issue.
Hello,
Is there an admistrators thread for questions about accounts?
I have created an account using a 2nd Email address because it says my primary email address isn't available.
Once I had my account I attempted to reset my Email address to my primary email but it wouldn't allow it.
I attempted to use the "forgot my password" and typed in my email address but no reset was ever sent to my account. A retry twice more didn't do anything either.
Thanks
-john
John, can you send me a private message with your primary email address (the one you can't use). I can then see if someone else has entered it by mistake.
It does, but it's not reliable - currently it tracks if you've read each individual post in the thread and you have to scroll/pause past each one (it works sometimes). It's on the list of things to be improved.
If this is going to be "DP Review" revived, how about using the "threaded outline with title" topic structure of DPReview (and Reddit)? Frankly, I was disappointed to see it using the current thread structure, which I find unusable after over two decades of using DPReview.
The current structure makes it impossible to quickly scan through threads to find things I might be interested in. If a topic gets long, it takes too long to scroll through pages of stuff, so I give up. It's hard to find what I want to read, even if there is only one page. This is a problem with all the alternatives to DPReview (other than Reddit r/canon) and contributed to DPReview being one most popular camera discussion forums.
Adopting the outline thread structure will make this forum stand out compared to the many that use the endless scrolling paging structure.
Everyone has their own preference, personally I can't stand threaded view, I like to read the whole thread linearly rather than clicking through a tree. So, hopefully flat view will remain as an option we can set in our preferences.
I like the idea of this site and you have a lot of members which is good but this dogs breakfast landing page is just not a good thing. I want to read 3 to 5 of those categories. Once I'm in a category the UI is pretty nice but I want to be able to subscribe or watch (call it whatever you like) some number of categories and then have a landing page where my subscribed or watched categories are listed and I can see which one(s) have new messages since my last visit.
That is how I use all the other forums I frequent.
DPReview didn't do that, I realize but it was the exception. I made bookmarks for the categories I read but I only ever did that for 2 and I would have liked to watch more but it was just too much futzing around. You guys have chance to do even better :-)
