If You Need To Let The Mischievousness In You Out or whatever, I see DPRforums are running an online questionnaire about the future direction and feedback on their forums.

The unbelievable thing is that you don't even have to log on there to answer the questionnaire 😃 Anyone with access to the Internet can fill in the questionnaire. How dumb is that? 😄

I'm not a member there but filled out the questionnaire anyway with my 2c worth 🤣

The link to the questionnaire is in the Admin guy's, Dirk, post at

Oh, come one! Please, don't do this, unless you have a real interest in participating on that site and want to provide some helpful feedback. (That's my 2c)

I was a member there until Dirk showed his true colours to me very early on after I joined.

Perhaps you could tell him to get his act together and set up the survey security properly. He is the Admin there but knows very little about how to run a website properly.

If lil' ol' me found the survey I'm sure other non members will find it easily as well.

Won't do that because I have no intention of participating there. But hopefully someone with the intention of improving the site will let him know about some of the criticisms.

You're right - they might. It's just not the same as encourage people to go there with 'mischievous' intentions.

As I've already stated, I vastly prefer the approach of this site and hope others will see the benefits of running a thing like that on a real community-based structure, but I won't try to manipulate any other approach.

There are a few members here who are also members there and so one of them can let him know of the huge security flaw in his survey setup.

From my own experience I question his integrity.

Maybe a bit of 'tuff luv' will prompt him to get his act together over there 🙂

But then again, maybe he really would like feedback from non-members as well. Who knows?

It is actually not dumb! If other people can have their say it is very possible that more users join if they see that admin listened to them. And someone who is not interested in this forum at all probably won't waste the time to fill in the questionnaire. But your post is imho rather unfriendly (to put it mildly)...

Yes, no doubt my post is not friendly but he was very unfriendly to me when I made a simple and polite request to him to shut down my account there.

He can't expect me to be friendly towards him when he at first chose to be very unfriendly to me.

It does make me chuckle that he keeps claiming to have “twenty years experience” in running forums, and yet all of his many “photo community” discussion boards were empty and had been dead for years before the DPReview announcement and his attempts to get everyone over there (initially he was pushing all his long-dead brand specific forums before he decided to copy DPR entirely on a new board).

Anyone can host and moderate an empty forum, I’m not sure if it counts towards “experience” though..

Even allowing for English not being his native language some of the questions allow only yes or no selections for answers with no provision for explanatory comments when the questions do not apply to the person filling in the survey.

Reading through his thread I linked to some members there are complaining about some questions not applying to them but since all the questions are mandatory they are not allowed to proceed to the next question until they select yes or no. Some members suggested adding a 'not applicable' option to those questions but he just dismisses them by asking them to clarify their answers in the question's comments field. But there is no comments field for some of those yes/no questions.

He just doesn't understand what his members are telling him or he is being deliberately evasive and dismissive of any criticism of his survey. Either way it is not a good look for him especially since he is the Admin there and should know better.

Don't worry about it. I post there and here, so I'm not sure why you even worry about it if you are not part of that forum. What's the point. I also post on FM and DPR, but I certainly don't worry about what sites I'm not on!

When I attempted the survey and found questions that seemed redundant but answers were mandatory, I simply abandoned the survey. No problem, doesn't matter.

That is petty, mean, and vengeful. Those characteristics make you qualified for joining dprevenge.com.

Weird . . to let a thing of the past (dpreview) keep taking up time in your head. Especially to cause "mischief". Then some people have nothing better to do I guess. Or just to constantly bicker w/ strangers online. Get on with life. Get outside . . less computer. Get a motorcycle . . take photos.

Meanwhile, everyone who goes to that site for any reason gets a cookie planted on their computer for who-knows-what purpose ...

Ah ... the less than polite offering of advice in the form of blunt commands ...

... I do hope that Danno is in better shape than some of us.

Friend I get it. I have been saved from doing the dirt nap twice by luck and good docs and I'm not even that old . . However in the same time you have been a member, Danno has close to 1000 posts, much obsessing about dpreview or bickering w/ others. At least from what I have seen. I wish you best in your recovery.
