Honestly, for a "word of the year", it's so limp, it could easily have been A.I. generated.
6 7 as the new "whatever", for mine. Breaking new literary ground, a completely useless phrase, for no reason at all.

    Well each to their own.

Just the other day when researching sensor pixel sizes I had two correct answers and then the third was "Camera ABC doesn't have a pixel size but instead has X by Y pixels" and a bit more rubbish unrelated to the query.

After seeing so many incorrect statements by AI I was just happy to see a negative. If that's what enough people suggested to get the dictionary's nod then I can live with it. No doubt there are plenty of other emotive choices but I think the limpness speaks for a lot of people's general disillusionment with AI - and also sick of the media buzz word hype.

    From Google AI

The "word of the year" depends on the dictionary, but recent choices include
"parasocial" (Cambridge Dictionary), "vibe coding" (Collins Dictionary), "tariff" (Dictionary.com), and "AI slop" (Macquarie Dictionary).

Especially as "AI slop" is not a word ...

    Hi,

Wait. Is that AI is Definitive or that AI is Defective?

    Couldn't resist. :P
