They posted an update a couple days ago which was pretty loose on detail, but it sounds to me like they haven't finished work on putting the site into archive/read-only mode and the closure is effectively postponed.
The mods also got a separate update (today?) it seems, and the note mentions while the archiving process continues, they'll continue to post some articles and the forums may continue to operate too.

the DPR forums are dead now anyway ,took the link off my computer, sick of looking to see when it finally dies. the threads here are far more interesting than dpr has ever been.
