Is the M1-X still relevant?

Much cheaper than one announced is it worthwhile or is it too big or is the resolution inadequate for size any suggestions?

Too big for....? it is bigger than an OM-1, but it also has extra grip, extra buttons when you rotate the body, and extra battery juice. Using it with the 150-400 zoom, this body is better handling it than with the OM-1 or the E-M1 line.

Worthwhile....? Sure it is worthwhile, for those who need the big body, or a body with the 2nd grip. Not sure if it is not worthwhile, what would be worthwhile. I can make an argument for the E-M1X is worthwhile, and how it is not as worthwhile as the OM-1.

But, it was a great camera when it came out, and got a ton of bad press for being gigantic for a M43 camera. But it delivered in images, and in what it brought forward in subject detection, etc.

It is a very good buy right now, if that is what you need or will use.

I mean, if you like the form factor and don't like using the battery grips, it's a great camera. That said, I think the consensus is that the OM-1 is pretty much superior in every way - particularly with the AF - so if the firm factor doesn't matter that might be a better pick.

If you value ergonomics highly then the EM1X is still worthy of consideration. I love the feel / handling of my EM1X!

The portrait and landscape grips are the same size - the grip (portrait) on the OM1 battery extender is much larger than the landscape grip built into the OM1 body. It feels odd when transitioning between the two.

The dials on the EM1X are larger and turn more easily.

On the other hand the OM1 has a better viewfinder, improved focusing, although this doesn't mean the EM1X is "bad", and does birds in flight more effectively. It also has much better colours at ISO 3200 and 6400, which I did not feel were good enough on the EM1X..

I've been shooting with a pair of E-M1X cameras and a selection of M.Zuiko lenses for almost 4 years now and I still absolutely love this equipment. The form factor of the E-M1X delivers outstanding comfort, handling and ergonomics which is critical when out shooting uninterrupted for extended periods of time. I have large hands and smaller bodies like my wife's E-M1 Mark III are just not comfortable for me to use. While the OM-1 provides some incremental performance improvements none of them prompted me to even consider switching.

As is often said, there is no such thing as a perfect camera body. Each of us needs to buy and use what best suits our needs. For me that will remain my E-M1Xs for many years to come.

The O.M1 has better focusing? I thought the M1x had 2 brains that made it smarter

The E-M1x really was well designed.
Thomas Stirr has large hands and finds the camera great to hold. I have small hands and also find the camera great to hold. :-)
