Open wide, Dave! Here it comes! 😂
Semla! 🤤
I have to admit that I had to look this up to see what it was you were showing me .. and there it gave me the English translation, so to speak, -- Fat Tuesday-Bun!!!! Looks about right --- too many of these and I go on a diet!! ...
WhyNot
Did you miss it last year? Dave didn't. 😄
It can be called that here too - fettisdagsbulle (no, you don't have to try to say it!)
It was somewhat disappointing. The local paper has a test panel try semlor from all pastry shops each year and choose the best one. This pastry shop usually wins, this year too. I had never had one from there, so I thought I would treat myself this year and went there to buy one.I actually bought two, because when I was going to pay for the first I was told it was half price because they would be closed the rest of the holiday and wanted to get rid of everything. So I bought one more, but they only had smaller ones left. Newfangled nonsense!
It was OK. The cream was perfect and the almond paste it's filled with was unusually nice, with larger bits in it. I suspect the almonds were lightly roasted. But the bun was kinda drab and too soft and I couldn't taste the cardamon.I can see a couple of black speckles in the picture, but far from enough.
I know where I'll buy the next one, but that will probably be next year. Or maybe tomorrow. 🤤
I do kinda remember it now that you reminded me .... I think it was a picture through a shop window ..... Not sure you gave it a name .. but then it was a while ago ....

Yes, that's the place I'm going to try next. Theirs look delicious. But it was one like this too.
I think I would prefer a chocolate éclair Charlotte, cause I like chocolate and cream! They are very messy to eat though and getting anything here with real cream in it takes some searching, unless of course you make it yourself!
Andrew
Last year's picture must have been better. Then you wanted to bake one. 😀
Thanks Charlotte. I think I've put on a kilo just looking at that bun. I've a couple of chocolate Easter eggs to get through so bang goes the diet - again.😃
Dave
Diet? I'm 3 years and 30 pounds past my dieting days. Bring it on! I'll take 2 Charlotte.
So did I. It's only once a year so better be thorough. 😂
Have others noticed the downsized images look more drab here than at DPR? I'm not complaining. Just noticing.
That looks soooo good, Charlotte. Rich
Next time I buy one you can have the lid, Rich. 😀
Now I made myself sad. I used to give the lid to my dog. And my pizza crusts.😥
Yes. And it's been brought to the attention of the site hosts who say that is high on their priority to address.
I also think some of it is due to the white background vs black...
I use the light theme at DPR too.
But, I've also noticed that EXIF isn't removed from the embedded images anymore. 👍
Awesome! Exify shows them just great (when the source has them) - that's a plus!
Back to put EXIF back into my edited images then.
I can't get Exify to show date in the overlay. I have checked that box, but still have to click Exify up to see it.
The frame isn't wide enough - f/stop and ISO are supposed to show too and it get cut off on the current thumbnails (at least for me).
Is there a way to suppress another default field or change the font size so it will show?
Edit: I tried changing it from Default to Compressed - that displays the f/stop on the thumbnails but still not ISO - and definitely no room for date.
Don't see any way to change the defaults. Maybe there is a set-up file somewhere - or contact the developer...
Ah, you are right! I see now that if I hover over my semla those things are there - because it doesn't have any EXIF so there's room for more.
Me too Andrew. Here in Belge they put confectioners custard inside instead of real whipped cream...just weird
Disgusting! I guess it's like the goo we have in packaged stuff that can be bought in grocery stores. Tastes and feels like skin cream. 🤮
Looks lovely did u eat the other half not good for that Viking figure Charlotte 😁 Paul
Yes, plus the smaller one I also bought. I can handle it once a year. 😀
