Thanks! It's one of my all-time favorite photos (not because of the photo, per-se, but because of my personal connection to the scene), and it may well be my most edited photo due to the challenging lighting of the scene. It's still not exactly right, yet, though -- something is still off (color a little too "cartoonish"?) -- but it's the best I've been able to do so far, and is better than all my other attempts have been.

That photo perfectly complements this photo, taken a few years earlier (edit: put up a new version -- pretty much the same, though, just a subtle difference in color/contrast):

And this is another nice photo.
We often give too much importance to mere technical aspects. But I'm sure that, in years to come, when you see this photo, the last thing you'll think about is how well you solved that backlight…

I like both of these images a lot. Especially the second one.

Thanks! The boy on the left is my son and the man on the right is his grandfather. They visited us just last month, and the grandfather was really happy to see that photo on the wall. But did he ask for it? No. He asked for this photo of fuji-san which was taken from a mountain near their house:

    富士山.jpg

So I had it printed at 36 x 24 inches on metal and had it shipped to his house for when he went back to Japan. His wife told my wife that he just keeps staring at it (in a good way!).

But technically correct is the best kind of correct, isn't it?

    😂

To be honest, I do place a way higher value on "IQ" than most people, I think. The more I like photo, the more I "fret" about the IQ. In any case, in years to come, I'll probably still be editing it with the latest and greatest software still trying to achieve "perfection". But not because I'm that anal about it, but because I enjoy it. Honestly, I enjoy tweaking my photos to get them as "perfect" as I can at least as much as I enjoy taking them.

This is a beautiful landscape photo. I can see why he wanted it. They sure do live in a beautiful part of the world.
