I believe in many cases companies don't advertise to the best degree. Many things are buried in the menus so deep they're rarely used. I am not familiar with other brands so will use mine as an example.

This is just a first time trial of an item I'd never used since the camera purchase ten years ago. Not meant to be the best photo, just the first time example.

Sitting in a vehicle I reached out the window, with the camera at a 90 degree angle, using the articulating LCD. Using one hand I used the electric zoom and fired an 18 fps. burst of this Scrub Jay, something I never thought possible on a nearly ten year old "bridge" camera. Yes, 18 fps. My finepix S1 locks focus at the beginning but for a one second operation that works pretty good.

It's called "best frame capture" something I'd completely over looked. I presume, what must be an electric shutter makes it possible, much like a modern phone. Yes, it's limited but I had to reduce the size significantly to post the photo under the 4M limit here.

    Size limits:
    2304x1728 PX
    7.69X5.76 in.
    19.5x14.63 C
    22.8 M - had to reduce to 3.2x2.4 in. (3.96M)

Oh, and it was raining. No worry, the S1 is weather resistant.

There seem to be all sorts of features like this in cameras that must have been expensively researched but mostly ignored. They get lost in the vast feature list. My cameras have the ability to shoot high resolution video and allow you to review the footage and choose a frame to be a still image. 18MP stills at 60 FPS. I've never explored the feature. It's probably extremely useful, if I could be bothered.

Picking a frame from video could be very useful for sports photography. But also very time-consuming.

Nah I use the 4K photo mode loads , it’s so quick and easy to flick through even at 30 frames per second and it certainly helps make up for slow af .
