Thank you for sharing, I think it is a very interesting piece of equipment.There is a video in Petapixel that gives more information about it. It looks like the owner tried to make a more portable version of it.

link says: Subjects enter the camera to have their portraits taken and are lit by a set of six strobes that are tuned to provide enough light to expose the photo paper.

Might be a clue there?

That's the reason for my thought. Photo paper is slow.
