Not sure if this will be the first thread in the Sony FF FE-Mount Talk "category", but regardless, Hi all, and I look forward to seeing and continuing discussions with many of the familiar faces/contributors from the soon-to-be-former DPR.

The DPR forums have been great for the (mostly positive) exchange of information and perspectives from users of different systems, and perhaps particularly in the Sony FF forum, where many/most contributors (myself included) were "refugees" from some other system/s, it made for interesting and mind-broadening discussions.

Hopefully something similar will develop and/or continue here!

While I'm talking to myself here, I must say I find it a bit odd that the forum ("category") name refers to "FE-Mount".

That's not the name of the mount.

The equivalent 'old' DPR forum was named "Sony Alpha Full Frame E-mount Talk", which I'd have thought makes more sense. And correctly refers to the mount as "E-Mount".

Anyone else think we should suggest that the category name be adjusted to reflect the official Sony mount nomenclature?

Quick update. I've suggested to one of the forum admins here that it be changed to "Sony FF E-mount Talk". Or to what the old DPR forum name was (if that isn't too long).

Happy for others to make a different suggestion if they disagree. ; )

You're not the only FF Sony user here, I have an A7ii among my many systems.

While the mount is not called FE I believe the lenses are. However I'd be quite happy to have all e-mount posts grouped together after all I have a nex 6 too (if my daughter ever lets me have it back). What relevant to one is often applicable to the other.

On the old DPR I rarely visited the brand specific forums - that will probably end up being the case here too as traffic volumes climb.

Hi there, I agree in a way - "Sony Alpha Full Frame E-mount Talk" , or just plain "Sony FE Talk".

Rare poster who has all Sony gear for the last 15 years. Went from Canon, and before that Pentax. Rarely posts but reads the DP posts daily. Thanks for taking over the reins and keeping this information going! Photographer for over 75 years. (Started at age 12, with dark room and old 4 x 5 film camera.)

    A7IV, A7III, 6500, 6600 and a huge collection of glass.

Thanks to all who are going to make this "new" forum a success. I'll be here daily.

I'd never have thought a camera slogan could be 'Sony keeps you young'...

I've just got off the phone with my mother (same age as you if my maths is correct). She's more full-on than I am with social media, and executes ninja skills controlling YouTube on her smart TV that leave me standing.

Forums like this are SO important to keep us all actively interested in life.

Hi all. Nice to see you all here, and I appreciate the various follow-up remarks and suggestions regarding the "category" naming.

I see that, for the present, at least, the name has been updated to "Sony FF E-mount Talk", which is less confusing and will probably serve well enough going forward. Looks like things are fairly fluid and lots is changing (and being built) and I guess that will continue for a while, as the site becomes more full featured and functional.

For now, it's great that we have the possibility of building a broadly-based brand-agnostic community to replace DPR. Hoping it will fly!

Hi folks, came over from dpreview; whatever name you think is best is fine with me. I liked the two Sony forums: one for lenses and one for cameras. Made sense to me. Also liked the third party and adapted lens forms. Since I came over from Nikon F stills cameras to Sony, I have a number of Nikon lenses I still use with my A7iv and my Sony video cameras. I stated life as a stills commercial photographer, then had a career in video and now am back in the stills world, though I still produce and shoot video. Looking forward to good discussions here.

A dp review user from 2002 it’s great to see a forum set up to reflect the structure over at DPR, one many people have become familiar with over the years.

Look forward to contributing as usual
