a fiiting conclusion to this long list of optical encounters, I should sum up what I actually use, rather than what is stored on shelves and in drawers for occasional experiments and hypocondriac sharpness pursuits.
Looking at what lies on my working table besides portable computer, books , half read journals , notepaper and pens, I observe a zeiss 18mm set at f;8 and a Leitz 100mm set at f;5,6 while the Z7 has its native 24.70zoom living its own life of settings, The 18 is called Distagon and the Leitz brags about apochromaticism and its 1: 2 closeup capability and probably does not wish to divulge its origuins outside of the fashion house , so it calls itself Leica. Those devices apparantly serve as my most frequent users mediated through EF adapters plus an EF to Z intermediary devoid of any electronics,
There is also a smal Sony thing which fits in a pocket and claims to have a zeiss vario "Sonnar" which mr. Bertele would never have heard of. Besids fitting in a pocket so that it can accompany me even when not going out to take photos, an advantage is that its raw format is faster to treat than Nikons BUT it has no "gegenlichblende" - sunshade, the T* coating is no insurance against direct sunlight or some frames having problems with annoying tails on the histograms..
In an ideal neoluddite world, camera buttonry vulnerable to accidental operation should be abolished and only essential controls retained such as choosing once and for all which automatic tricks one wishes it to perform and which not (since series production for a big market keeping prices down requires intgrated circuits and appendages able to perform all tricks customers might want)
