I was in Rome last week with the 20-35, 45-100, 100-200, and 45. For the first time in years, I only brought 4 lenses on a trip. I shot in Rome for 8 days with nothing but the 20-35 which left my camera hardly at all. Some of my Flickr friends were ribbing me about it and said I was too in love with 20mm in Rome. They were getting dizzy looking at 20mm (16mm FF) wide shots and ask me to please shoot a few at 45 and up.
I'm still amazed that I can stand in a cathedral with an F4 GF lens and with that great IBIS, shoot at 1000 to 1600 ISO at 1/15 (usually) and get tripod-like shots (in terms of stability). Of, I would prefer to shoot at F8 or 9 0r 10 (or 11) and get more of the foreground in focus and ISO 100, which would be a long exposure and thus require a tripod....
But anyway, I'm in Jordon now and in a rental car and Teresa and I are hitting all the sites and I'm shooting the 45-100 more. Thye bald desert skies and haze are killing me, but I try to hide as much sky as I can (or crop it away).... Maybe I should sky replace! I hate sky replace.
Anyway, I was so far behind in post that I took a day off yesterday and just did LR all day and posted some Jordon shots - still behind in post.
Anyway, I think you have a nice prime combo there. 23-45-50. Nothing wrong with that, but you need more reach. You need the 45-100, which you don't have, so take the 110. The 250 is just too much load man. I've done it plenty of times. But you pay a heavy price! LOL.
Having the 250 is wonderful. That lens is gold. But gold is heavy and hard to walk around with without getting robbed.
Just kidding - Italy is safe but taking that 250 on a trip is serious stuff and hard work, especially when flying from the US. By the way, I have yet to mount the 100-200. And I miss my 30. Should have brought the 30. Love the 30. And I miss the mighty 23. But 23 is covered well by the 20-35 (as is the 30). But I like having that 30 on the cameras and walking around with it. And it gives me another half stop for in churches. Believe it or not, that half stop matter with GFX (in my opinion) when I'm shooting hand-held in a beautiful Roman Basilica.
