I've been relating the pros and cons to him. Time will tell.

For sure I've decided, at present, among the current 'sites to the rescue', this is my choice.

The big difference is that the others have been produced by people who run web sites for a living. This one is a load of amateurs trying to work together. They have an advantage in terms of how slick it looks at the beginning, we have an advantage (I hope) in terms of commitment to the community. To get it as good as people want we need to deploy the skills of our membership, and we need the membership to be as large as possible. I chose a generalised web framework rather than a dedicated forum SW because it gives more potential for growth to a full fledged site with content apart from just forums.
Which is a long and roundabout way of saying, yes please do spread the word and rebuild your own community here.
There's an interesting thing that happened here. Alan introduced a 'Fujifilm MF' category, now there is feedback from people saying they'd rather have a single MF category, which kind of indicates how strong that forum bond was.

The policy is to do what members want. The difficulty is finding out what members want.

I use a Fujifilm GFX and I’ll only be contributing to the MF talk forum.
