For some reason, I cannot get a reply to work. It comes up with an UNKNOWN ERROR.

I am glad to see Labe here. I hope we get more folks to migrate over.

I still don't know how to upload a photo.

Checking to see if I can reply

Both posting (new threads) and replying seems to be working fine at this point, so I think teething issues are being ironed out.

It will be interesting to see how many folks from the DPR migrate over. Until they do, content is likely to be a bit sparse here. Unless of course, somebody devises a way to import the existing accumulated discussions from the 'old' site (I assume that's unlikely for multiple reasons).

Replies now seem to be working.

My next question is how do you post a photo? I can upload a photo file, but I don't know how to insert one in a post. I will try a copy and paste.

That did not work. It just attached the photo as a file.

    Any ideas?????

When you have upload the photo, press of the photobox "Inset into message". Now you can delete the uploaded photo link, if you want and the photo will remain insert.

    Test.

I tried to post an image but there seems to be a 4mb limit. That's going to be a problem, especially for high res images.

This is just a test to see if I figured out how to upload an image.

    Hi Jerry,

Looks like we could all meet here again!
I uploaded an image, originally 9 Mb, but apparently size is limited to 4 Mb; so resized.

The 4mb limit is going to be a problem for people with high res cameras. Many of ys like to pixel peep to examine closely. Another thing. After editing a post you have to choose "edit reply" which is confusing. The text should be changed to "post reply".

    Welcome Tom
Looks like we will have a bit of learning curve with this site. In spite of its limitations it is much better than no gathering place at all.

    Agreed.

Decent JPEG renders that are 4MB or less are typically less than 5 megapixels, so it's not only people with high res cameras that will hit that limit.

It's also going to be important to be able to embed files in different formats - ideally including RAW, or at least a lossless format, in order to discuss aspects of processing and review the SOOC renders.

However I expect the forum admins may need a little time to iron out some of these details...

What we really need is an income stream, so we can get a bigger server. That will come soon - one thing at a time.

    Bob:
What does the "DISABLED" button next to the REPLY button do?

I'm not Bob (obviously) - but I can answer your question.

The "disabled button" is a curiously named menu that, if you click on it, pops up options for subscribing to the thread.

That said, there seems to be some funkiness with subscriptions that they're working to resolve. But at a minimum, any thread you subscribe to will appear in the list if you go to "Threads" (via the button at top left of screen) and then click on the "All threads" button and select the alternative option for "Subscribed threads".

It's not as seamless or intuitive a way to keep track of things as we had at DPR, but it provides an ok stopgap until they can get the site features built up a bit further...

Thanks for the answer. It makes sense that those features are "disabled" until they iron out the bugs.

They are doing an awesome job getting this site up in such a short time. I am very impressed.
