    Great thread idea. Thanks for starting it.

    Last summer, I spent some time in the white mountains and just happened upon a roadside patch of firecracker penstemon where rufous hummingbirds were feeding.

    I believe this is an Anna's hummingbird (please correct if wrong). I see them around the Guadalupe River in San Jose, CA.
