So I've been trying to connect my new Android phone to Fujifilms "Camera remote" app, without much luck. I've got the latest version of the app and my X-pro 3 is on the latest firmware.

My previous phone would connect to the app, though it took some time, it was mostly successful.

Looking at the Android store reviews of the app, it seems like I am not the only one with the problem.

Did somehow Fujifilm break the app with the latest update?

I’m using it on iOS and actually the last update seems to have improved it for me - for the first time in several months I can connect without first “forgetting” my home wifi, and it’s actually managed to stay the course and complete a transfer.

Of course that was under iOS 16.4. Apple released 16.5 yesterday, which probably means the app is broken again, because Fuji never seem to pay any attention to what Apple are doing and only ever fix stuff after the fact.

Next month Apple will announce iOS 17 at their annual developer conference and app developers all over the world will be able to download betas and start tuning their apps for it. They’ll have months and access to successive beta releases and developer resources to make sure their apps are updated and will work seamlessly with the new OS. Will Fuji be doing that? Of course not, like every previous year they’ll wait until October when the new release is on every device, and be shocked to discover the new iOS completely breaks their app yet again. Rinse and repeat.

The Fuji Camera Remote app, at least the Android version, is legendary for both being clunky and not working. Back in 2019 on a phone using Android 11 I was able to get it to work with an X-H1, and even successfully execute a firmware update. Geotagging was problematic, unless you didn't move for 15 minutes or so. Never got it to connect with either my X-H1 or GFX100S on a Pixel phone running Android 13. Deleted it, at that time the last update was 10/2020.

Just installed the latest version, updated 4/23/2023, from the Play Store. Connected immediately to the GFX100S, so that is a first. Seems a bit more responsive, but just as obtuse in its menu/controls. May find out today if geotagging has improved.

It has a rating of 1.6 stars for a reason.

Menu Network setting make sure in Bluetooth slartphone setting that yout phoneis well registred in the pairing process (see manual) in this menu choose the right destination if you use several devices (telephones, tablets)
    Then go back
On the phone click on the app and again choos the right camera registred in the app After a few second obn the EVF you should see the bluetooth icon and the phone icon
On the phone all 3 options should be available and ready to use
iT TOOKS ME QUITE AFEW HOURS TO FINALLY GET A CORRECT CONFIG
Manuals and Fuji explanations are just terrible either unhanderstandable or wrong ....
    Hope this helps....😓

Bluetooth connection between the iOS app and both the X100V and X-S10 is 100% reliable. WiFi connection is still very slow to be established and while it’s sort of useful for LiveView shooting, it sometimes lags. I’ve had the connection drop completely during file transfers which are also slower than they should be. I suspect the problem is more with the WiFi chips used in the cameras, not the app per se, but that’s based more on educated feelz than factual information.

Fuji Rumors today has a rumor that next week [May 24] a new app called x-app will be announced [need not be the same as available]

Could be good news for sure… BUT it needs to come along with a new attitude and proper investment going forward, to make sure the inevitable bugs are fixed along the way and the app remains properly supported and current alongside Android and iOS. My worry is they’ll launch something all redesigned and flashy looking and then, six months to a year later, it’ll be just as problematic and partially abandoned as the current has been for years now.
