Subject: Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge Bench

Here's another lonely bench I found yesterday at the end of the trail at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. These benches are quite nice to use after a long hike with all of my gear. That gear was especially heavy because I carried my long telephoto lens with me. Unfortunately for that lens there was not a lot of wildlife other than some geese and a few small elusive birds. But it was a nice day for a hike. 😀

I like that - with man and dog in the background walking away, it gives a melancholy effect to the bench.

    Subject: Pacific University Lonely Bench

Here's a lonely bench I found at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon last month. I don't think I've ever seen one like this, that was so heavily painted.

    Subject: Two Lonely Chairs

Here's something I found also at Pacific University. Instead of a bench, there were these two lonely chairs.

Could we consider this a bench substitute? 😀

A real "Lonely Bench". What do you think?

    Good idea and good image!

But (there's always one "but") - although I personally like red objects on b&w image (have processed many images this way myself), then in current example the red can is IMO a bit too small (and too blurry to crop most of the image out to make it stand out), especially in preview size. On full screen it looks much better :)

Not benches but long, long ago I encountered these lawn chairs in a wooded area near a holiday cabin but not really on a lawn per se. I remember thinking that they kind of looked out of place.

Yes, F1.4 wasn't the best. I didn't think about it as I was on my way somewhere else and saw this in passing.

Instead of sitting and enjoying the view, taking in that feeling, we get the picture that we won't look at again. Cultural, not generational. Maybe we should replace benches with tripods?
