There are some M11 freeze issues floating around, and I also experienced them myself. I had two different freeze types that don’t seem to be related. In one case only the Visoflex 2 EVF eye sensor worked to turn the EVF display on / off. No button, including the power switch worked. Removing the battery fixed this. The other freeze or rather non-function I often encounter is after turning the camera off (in reality wanting to turn it on), then in an instant realizing my intention and turning it on again. If I do this too fast the camera just seems to ignore the power on. If I wait for a short amount everything is fine.

This is nothing really worrying, and something one can get used to, plus the latest firmware already fixed many freezing issues, so I think there is a fair chance of also fixing those in an upcoming firmware update.

Having owned 2 M11s for over a year, without single incident (like most M11 owners) I would say that if you're having ongoing issues, you should address them with Leica as you are in the vast minority and should be afforded a camera in perfect working condition.

I fully agree that you should contact Leica if issues are ongoing. That said, it is hard to know which percentage is affected, and how much of these freezes are “just” software bugs, in the sense that they could be fixed by a firmware update.

I didn’t encounter another freeze with the Visoflex in the meantime, but I also didn’t use it that much in the recent weeks.

The only freeze I can absolutely reproduce is the one with the power switch. I just learned to:

    1. Leave the camera a couple of seconds until it is completely turned on before trying to press any buttons at all.
    2. Increase the sleep times in the menu, and let the camera on for longer as the battery life is great when the display is turned off (which it usually is for me).
