I’ve acquired a used M2 that I intend to use for everyday carry. I happened to notice if I have the format set to JPEG that there is almost no EXIF data on the photo (e.g., no lens data, no ISO, no aperture info, no exposure time, etc. But if I change the format to Raw, I’ve got more EXIF data, although still not the copyright data entered on the camera.

    Is this a function of:
    - age of the camera, or
    - something that is fixed in a new firmware rev (I did notice that this camera has 1.0.2, and just checked and see that rev 1.0.4 is the latest), or
    - something else?

    Thanks in advance!

Just checked a few of my M2 (firmware 1.0.4) JPEG images in Faststone Image Viewer which shows limited EXIF info. but includes lens data, ISO, aperture, shutter, exposure settings. Same images viewed in Canon DPP 4 show full EXIF info with all settings. I don't enter copyright data, so can't say if it is shown but DPP has separate menu item for this.

Thanks. Appreciate the reply and the details of what you see. Just a few minutes ago, I was able to complete the firmware upgrade on my M2 from 1.0.2 to 1.0.4, so I’ll try a few new photos and see. If I have trouble I can also check the same viewers. (I don’t have DPP installed yet as I just upgraded laptops. But this will be a good reason to get that done.) I’ve been using iOS apps (including Apple’s Photos app and others) on my iPhone/iPad for looking at the EXIF.

As a side note, in case it helps anyone else, when upgrading my M2 from 1.0.2 to 1.0.4, the camera would not detect the M2 firmware update file on this SD card - 256GB SanDisk - Extreme PLUS 256GB SDXC UHS-I Memory Card, So I had to drop back to an older 32GB Sandisk SD card I had, where it read the same file just fine. Both cards were formatted in the M2. The camera does record images on the 256GB card just fine…

I am guessing it is an issue with the programs you are using to view the EXIF data. I just checked with my M2 that is running firmware 1.0.4 and everything was visible. Even Windows Explorer on my computer was able to properly display EXIF data like ISO, aperture, and focal length.

I don't think it is a firmware issue. I dug around my hard drive and found some M2 photos going back to 2015, which predates the current firmware, and all EXIF data was visible.
