M200 lacks EFCS?

I was reading about shutter shock and the M6ii and got curious. I was under the impression that all the M cameras besides the M6II (for whatever reason) had EFCS?

This is all that is listed on Canon's product page for the M200:
- Vertical-travel mechanical focal-plane shutter, electronically controlled at all speeds

On Canon's product page for the M6II (which obviously doesn't have it):
- Vertical-travel mechanical focal-plane shutter, electronically controlled at all speeds
- Shutter Mode: Mechanical (mechanical first and second curtain)

On Canon's product page for the M50ii (which obviously has it):
- Electronically controlled focal-plane shutter
- Electronic 1st / mechanical 2nd curtain

M200 has it, the only one which doesn't have EFCS is M6 mark II and the lack of it is generally overrated in my opinion

With EFCS you should hear only 1 shutter sound (after the exposure)?

When I tested this morning with a shutter speed of 1.5 seconds, there was 2 shutter sounds. One right after the shutter was pressed and then another after the 1.5s exposure. I'm pretty sure that is what I heard but don't have it on me to test right now.

Edit: The two sounds aren't similar. I saw someone mention something about shutter charging/cocking in an old thread about an M5 being the first sound?

Is it possible that you have long exposure noise reduction enabled?

EFCS is the only option in the M200.

That setting is turned off.

Edit: Also when I go into Silent Shooting Mode, the camera is silent as expected. But that is unusable as it is fully automatic, no manual exposure (SS or aperture) controls.

I also hate that Canon didn’t give us a fully manual ES mode but, truth be told, my M50 (and, assume the M200) seems to do a pretty good job in recognizing the scene in front of the camera as all my shots came out ok in that mode. Obviously, that wouldn’t work if you wanted to go for a long exposure or other creative effects where you need full control.

Anyone? I posted a clip in my previous post. I know a few of you own a M200.

Just tried on my M200 and I hear the same --- there is a slight internal 'click' when you first press the shutter release button for a 1.5s exposure, and clearly the shutter closes then opens again at the end of the exposure. I too would guess it's a shutter cocking mechanism of some kind.

Thank you for confirming that is normal behavior.
