Welcome to the >>> Macro and Close Up Fortnightly Thread. #1 (251126) <<<
As some of us have specialised more in our photography, we offer this thread to celebrate the Near and the Magnified.
Several members have expressed an interest in a dedicated thread, so, show us what you've been up to.
Although we'd like to see your most recent efforts, there is no limit on when shots were taken; especially if they demonstrate an interesting technique.
Please share HOW your shot was taken. If the gear you used is speccy, be it lighting, or a fancy table rig, chuck in some shots of that, we're all interested.
Please ensure your EXIF, your CAM and your LENS info is visible, (people love to know), and if you STACKED, scribble a brief note so we know how you done it.
Please be generous with your posting size, pixel peepers live here. Watermarks will be tolerated, but frowned upon.
Macro vs Close up will not be a thing here, both will be acceptable. The Flowers and Insects will just have to get along.
The whole point of this thread is to encourage people, it's not a contest, so have a go!
This thread will trial FORTNIGHTLY to give the more slow moving time to finish their masterworks.
Of course, if you find your shot straying into the surreal, don't forget the Abstract and Experimental Thread.

    Guidelines:
1.The thread is open to all members of the forum to show their own work.
    2. Please post your single images (preferable) or a selection of images on a theme in a single post (again, preferable).
....Try not to exceed three photos per post, it's hard enough to soak in the magnificence of even one of your shots!
    3. Please try to stay within topic.
    4. Title your picture with something. If you're not Shakespeare, just a minimal description is fine.
    5. Expect feedback if you post; It's A Forum.
    6. If you don't want your picture modified, say so. Otherwise, expect some tinkerage.
    7. Feel free to comment or query, It's A Forum, but don't abuse the frequency counter either.
    8. Suggestions to improve the thread will be welcome and might even be adopted.
    9. The aim here is minimal moderation. Be nice, and remember, responding to a reply never hurts.

Looking forward to seeing your work, Ron

This was shot with a KMZ Helios-33 35 mm f/2 lens (almost) wide open, I think. It's actually stacked but not too many shots were used.

Edit, to add another different shot and also some lens information:

This one was shot with a Meopta Anaret 30 mm f/4.5 (enlarging) lens with a square aperture. Quite challenging to use, due to the small size and long barrel, but results are fun regardless. This one was stacked as well.

Graphic Flutterer - when I take perching shots I normally close the aperture down to f/11 to try and get more detail but this was the only one I got before he took off.

    Ta for that.
The lens wasn't bought for Still Life, (Panny stitching , actually).
But, with a new toy, thought I'd chuck a few things together for some test shots.
Yes, lucky to find the scarf, just the right balance to the pink in the shells,
and the pattern contrasts nicely with the spiral on the dish.
Kept this one, because we more or less got away with the F22.

Both are very nice but, if I have to highlight something, those square specular lights in the second one are rad!

I think there's enough detail where there should be, and that bigger aperture gave the image a softer and nicer background...

Well worth a Google and a read, to see where Sony has taken small lenses with modest apertures.

Zerene took about 30 mins to stack , my images are not cropped or very little just for composition, i do compress them so you dont have to open a 30meg file and i find the small files show no detail loss to the original.
