I spent a lot of my working career as a medical photographer, one positions was photographing eye surgery. I used Nikon equipment at the time, mostly 105 and 200 Micro Nikkors. When I bought my CL I used some Canon FD macro equipment on the CL. I was looking for a longer lens than the TL 60mm, that also allowed a longer working distance. A 100mm lens seemed a good choice, I looked at an Leica 100 Apo R, but at the same time I found a 105 f2.8 Micro Nikkor for about 1/4 the price, so I bought it. A few weeks ago I came across a 200mm Micro Nikkor for a good price, just nostalgia, I bought it, one of the smoothest lenses focusing I have ever used. I have a 200 f4 Telyt, but have never been that happy with it as it is front heavy. So right now with the CL I have 5 macro lenses:
40mm f2.8 Makro Kilar an OK lens nothing special compared to newer lenses.
55 f2.8 Micro Nikkor AFD, does better on a Nikon an early D type that had a really small focusing ring, but a very crisp lens, better on an AF Nikon.
65mm f3.5 Elmar, again an old macro for the optical Visoflex, I have an adapter for the CL but the lens is just OK.
105mm f2.8 Micro Nikkor Just an excellent lens, macro or regular range
200mm f4 Micro Nikkor again an excellent lens, internal focus so it keeps a good balance on a camera, also good at a regular range.
