I have a Canon T8i and it has a flash that you have to raise manually.
You still get a warning icon in your viewfinder that the light is low enough that flash should be used, but you have to raise the flash unit yourself.
At first, I wasn't sure I would like that, but after having it, I wouldn't want to have it any other way.
I always hated that "slap" as the flash snapped into place.
This is far less jarring.
Besides, the T8i handles high ISOs. (as high as 12800) really well, and I don't need to use flash all that often..
