First post on this site. The Mitakon is one lens that I both love and hate at the same time. I use it on weddings and portraits. Love the images, the size and weight. Managed to modify the aperture ring on mine to be a bit stiffer so it doesn't turn too easily. Also modified it further so the aperture dot and stops line up perfectly center with the DOF scale.

That's a nice lens. It's not overly sharp and it's got that creamy rendering, which is perfect for portraits

Very interesting results. They are not the perfect creamy results that some lenses are achieving but instead have a character similar to some old lenses that I have seen results from. These are very very nice in these examples and better some of the new creamy lenses but that is my opinion. Bokeh is subjective.

beautiful lens! Im interested in this lens but like to ask hiw forgiving is the DOF "+ - buffer" @ f1.4 wide open？ e.g: focusing on eyes at MFD? How often would you hit or miss handheld? Tiny movement forward or back is ok?
I liked and used a 7artisans 35/0.95 on Sony a7s in the past but the combo was less forgiving and I had more miss than hit due to tiny body moving front & back.

Not very forgiving IMO. I'm used to shooting with my Mitakon 35mm 0.95 on my X-E4 and that lens is pretty easy to manual focus wide open. My copy of that lens being pretty decently sharp certainly helps a lot. The GFX and this Mitakon 65mm has a very thin DOF wide open that I honestly don't recommend shooting it at 1.4 if you want to get the eyes in focus up close. Not to mention the weight and size makes handling a bit challenging if not used to shooting heavy setups. I sure struggled a ton when I just got this combo coming from a very compact and lightweight X-E4 setup.
Whenever I shoot close up portraits, I either us 1.4 if focus isn't critical and I just want the "feel" of moment. For detail shots, I go for f2 up (or down?). I use 1.4 for environmental portraits too whether the subject is about have the frame or really tiny. I think the 65 really shines when used for this.

I hope Fuji makes a 63mm f1.7 some day but so far they haven't even released their 55mm f1.7. I am no good in manual focus.

Manual focusing is a lot of fun even with my blurry eyes. I'm used to manual focusing since my DSLR days but every new lens/camera needs a bit of time to get comfy with. But AF sure is convenient! That's my X-E4's job nowadays. Fuji needs to make a better focusing GFX body too, preferably a less than 100MP one!
