Most of us I guess are people who came here when DPR was due to be closed.

Many of us tangled with certain moderators at DPR, over often absurde things that happened on those forums.

Now DPR is looking for sombody to moderate the moderators, if you read between the lines, amongst other fun things.

Good fun job for sombody in the wacky world of dictators, fanboys, sock puppets and all the other fun flavours that you find on DPR.

A typical week for the Community Coordinator will include directly engaging with users in key sub-forums, moderating forum activity to ensure consistency of moderation, providing support to moderators directly or via a private forum, supporting users requesting assistance, reviewing posts that require moderation, and writing approximately three articles per week for DPReview.com built around community activity or content.

A heads up for any Foxes here, who would like to control the Hen coup.

This seems to me to be the most difficult part of the job. Presumably approximately mean between, say 2.75 and 3.25.

    What's the pay?

    Hi,

I would think this is a job for an Assistant Administrator.

Moderators are regular members who volunteer to take on the additional workload. Used to be the Assistant Administrators handled that, which worked in the early days when there was but a few forums. As traffic grew, more and more forums were created and so the call for volunteers forum by forum.

And then that workload was removed from the Assistant Administrators. But then the AAs had to keep an eye on the Mods. I don't know when the various Mods changed. I was an AA for a few years early on, but rather ran out of time for that role and stepped down. Later, the founder sold the site off and I completely lost track of who was doing what for any of the jobs.

I guess with the latest structure, they need to add in a level of management. Hope they get what they need.

    Stan

By now, an AI should be feasible that monitors posts and alerts a custodian to rule-breakers <deleted>

No do not turn this thread into the usual shit show.

I was being humorous. Let's keep it that way please.

from my experience over the last month at dpr the moderators have been told to pull there head in as the members have decliend massively, moderation will kill here as well, the place that is thriving is fred miranda, the threads on sony forum is 10 fold compared to dpr, solid topics and other brand members all join in for great conversations with rarely a fan boy atitude just facts.

They started looking for the "apparatchik" over a year ago...

... and, so far, they haven't found any...

So, preaching, punishing or pandering to the company line (whatever that is nowadays) ?
Enough ego for show business, but not enough to buck the system.
    Interesting.

I think it's double what the moderators are getting. 😁
