I picked up a 2nd hand Pana Leica 100-400 for m43 the other day and got this shot handheld when I got home.

I am really surprised at the clarity but I suspect the atmosphere was very clear as haven't been able to duplicate it over the last two evenings.

Impressive, especially for handheld. I need to research this lens.
    Thanks for sharing,

    Thanks.

I do remember someone posted a shot at a similar phase and the comment was made that where the sunlight is at an angle to the craters, they are in relief and therefore more pronounced.

I have always thought that Panasonic have made some brilliant lenses for M43. I had the 12-35 2.8 35-1000 2.8 and a 100 -300. They were sadly underrated by the Forum crew on M43 forums.

With the 100-400, you can do shots like yours, that are impossible from a practical point of view with other systems.

    Enjoy your lens.

    Thank you very much NCV,

I do feel fortunate as I have read quite a few comments about sample variation. It was also mentioned that transport may have contributed to some de-centering issues. But I had read about and seen pics from good ones and I agree with you they are often under rated. It is possibly unfortunate for Panasonic to be sharing the same space as some of the vocal Oly crowd. But then again the Oly crew who know their stuff often used this lens happily until they moved onto the 150-400 and still show respect for this one.
I am somewhat in awe to have made such a big jump from a compact bridge (which punched a little over its weight). I now have to do it justice... 😊

[Edit] That might be the 35-100 2.8 (an extra 0 crept in there?) 😉
