The other thread 'Where we go from here' has got long and unwieldy, so I have unpinned it. It's still there in the governance section.

Moving forward from here, we have a long list of things we would like to achieve.

    These include:

    • Galleries
    • Threaded view
    • GDPR to link to
    • Privacy & terms of reference document to update and publish
    • Articles
    • Editorial content
    • Notifications
    • Set up a paypal account for donations
    • Fix outstanding bugs
    • Get email server working
    • Update the look/feel of the home page.

If I have missed anything, feel free to reply here and we will consider it.

Some will come sooner than others and I have no timescales for any of them. But we ARE all still committed to this site.

    Alan,

Thanks for this list, whoch looks good, if a little daunting. Nearly everything on it needs to be done by the team, with the exception of Galleries. Please expand on this item and maybe we, the members and contributors of photos, can get something underway.

    David

PS: I just saw the photo of the month thread, which is a good start as a gallery. Thanks! 😀

Bob has in mind that all people's photos live in their own gallery. It's one of his projects and needs some updates to the forum s/w. What it will mean is that a photo can be posted in two or more places without adding to the quota.

You could show the best pictures from POTM in a banner at the top of the home page, maybe also in some other pages.
This forum is about pictures and photography; it also should look like that.

An appealing landing page is an absolute necessity. It needs to have photography-related visual content, links to editorial content, links to the forums, and it needs to change regularly. I say this not just as an interested end-user but as someone who watched a well-constructed photography forum fail for lack of one.

I like that idea. If there is the possibility of albums that would make it easy to find a pic one had posted somewhere without having to go back through numerous threads.

Indeed - that's good to hear!

Even though I'm already starting to feel like I'm getting on people's nerves, I still am committed as well... 😅

    Hi,

Looks good to me as well. And I'm committable. Er, no. I mean I have been committed. Er, no. That's not it, either. I mean, I'm committed, too. Yeah. That's the one! :P

I have not yet uploaded a pic to this site. Where are the images stored and how does one delete their image from storage if that is what they want to do?

I have no idea - but I will ask.

I thought that was already the case by copying the code in the first posting into another one, as I have been doing.
