Picked up my camera today with the 10-24 in it and noticed that the lens wobbled a bit. When I checked the mount at the camera end has a rubber bit and you could tilt the lens slightly. When I took it off, it was obvious that this should not be happening as it only happened on one side.

I couldn't see anything obvious. So, it's going back for repair (it's still under warranty)

Marc, I think that Alan was talking about the lens, not the camera ...

While reading “Picked up my camera today” for me it involves the camera too, no!
Or it's an English expression that escapes me. 😕

I understand your confusion Marc — I had the same initial impression until I added “from off the shelf” to the middle of the statement.

From Alan's description, it appears that the rubber weather seal on the lens has deteriorated.

It looks OK - it seems loose on one side. And the lens is only 8 months old.

Marc - Yes, I picked up the camera from the shelf - it had the 10-24 on it - and it wobbled when I moved the whole lot.

The rubber itself may look OK, but the seal sure isn't. Hopefully Fuji will get it right the second time - it ought to be good for a great number of lens changes. I have one lens with a weather seal, which only gets used on my Fujifilm S3Pro, and about once a year I apply a bit of automotive rubber lube on the O-ring with a Q-tip to keep it from drying out and cracking. Good luck with yours!

If it's any comfort to you, my experience of Fujifilm UK ranges from very good to excellent. Prompt service, especially for warranty repairs.

I took in in to Wex. The engineer looked at it, tried a couple of things and then said it had to go back to Fuji for repair. Said it would be 3-4 weeks.

Seems like a long time. The couple of times I've sent stuff direct to Fuji they turned it around in seven to ten days;. The last time was my xf55-200,which died a year ago, out of warranty
