    Superb device, with panache!
Released a little too late compared to the competition
Followed by its little brother the 5D in 2005
And that was the end for Minolta 😩

I've always hated the mystery and ambiguity that Nikon had for the origin of these sensors.

    Hi,

The Sony CCD was always 10 MP but originally had too much noise. So they quadded up the photosites under each CFA color filter. They improved this for the D1H and D1X. The D1H kept the photosites quadded up, but the D1X doubled them instead. So, now the D1X had double the resolution.

By the time of the D200 further improvements to the sensor allowed them to single up the photosites and now we had what we wished we'd had in the first place.

And all this was Nikon doing what they could at the time with what Sony could provide.

    Stan

With the release of each new Nikon, it was always difficult to know the origin and specifications of their sensors.
    Always theories and hypotheses!

    Re the Canon D30,
i picked up one about 4 years ago at a fair for £10.
An interesting camera that despite being APS-C format only takes EF lenses and not EF-S which I assume came later.
I still occasionally take mine out just for fun.
For £10 it was great value, not so sure I'd have been able to justify the $3500 some years ago.

Still a little patience, in about twenty years (2045) you will be able to buy a Canon EOS R3 for Ā£100 šŸ˜Ž
In the meantime, enjoy your Canon D30.
I really like this little Canon ā¤ļø
