Another alternative appeared in 2002, the Sigma with its Foveon sensor!

    Canon EOS D30 (2000) 3 MP $3,500.00 USD
    Minolta RD-3000 (1999) 2.7 MP $3,400.00 USD
    Fujifilm FinePix S1 (2000) 3.4 MP $3,500.00 USD
    Digital SLR D1 (99-2000) 2.7 MP $5,600.00 USD

The turn of the century was a great time for photographers who preferred DSLRs to compacts
Affordable prices hover around $3,500 except for the Nikon. Contrary to the prices we were accustomed to seeing with DSLRs from 1991-1998 of $10,000 to $30,000 USD

The big question in the year 2000 is, buy or wait!

    Fantastic Four (2002) 😁

2002 is a fantastic year, where we find for the first time, four DSLRs with four sensors of different technology.

The Canon EOS D60 (2002) 6.3 MP $2,200.00 USD with a CMOS sensor
    The Nikon D100 (2002) 6.3 MP $2,400.00 USD with a CCD sensor
The Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro (2002) 6.17 MP $2,700.00 USD with a Super CCD sensor
And finally the Sigma SD-9 (2002) 3.4 MP $1,800.00 USD with a Foveon X3 sensor

What more could you ask for!

In 2003 we were looking at the latest DSLR releases that hovered around $2,000
And suddenly Canon releases a $1,000 US Digital Rebel !!
It's the panic of the small world of digital photography, and everyone is starting to readjust their prices.
It's the golden age for photographers like me, who were waiting.
And between 2003 and 2005, a total reversal of the situation, where film cameras almost completely disappeared.

    Hi,

If you were lucky enough to have a working sensor....

Edit: This was supposed to pick up Jim's comment on the 14n aliasing. My idea was you were lucky if you got aliasing and didn't have a faulty sensor. The quote got lost....
