Here's my latest comparison between the Minolta RD-3000 (1999) and the Nikon D810 (2014)

The J5 and the Sigma 135 Art are a perfect combination for wild birds, that are not too shy, or elephants at a distance!
Still use my D600 occasionally. It has worked flawlessly through the years, but it did get the deoiling-of-the-sensor treatment for free, including a firmware upgrade!
How can you keep them all running?! Do you charge them regularly?!
I love handling and using these old DSLRs, and one of the reasons for my many comparisons (293) is to force myself to go out with them, at least once every 12 or 15 months. It helps keep everyone alive. ๐
Thanks for the little visit, and good photos ...

Nikon D1 (99-2000) 2.7 MP $5,600.00 USD

Four Tenors Collection 1999-2000 by Marc Aubry, sur Flickr
The turn of the century was a great time for photographers who preferred DSLRs to compacts
Affordable prices hover around $3,500 except for the Nikon. Contrary to the prices we were accustomed to seeing with DSLRs from 1991-1998 of $10,000 to $30,000 USD
The big question in the year 2000 is, buy or wait!
Minolta RD-3000 (1999) 2.7 MP $3,400.00 USD
Nikon D1 (99-2000) 2.7 MP $5,600.00 USD

Not a lot of difference for 9 years development. I think I prefer the colour of the X-T5, but only just.
