So on the old DPR (as I see we're calling it) there was a thread on using the Tamron 35-150/2-2.8 on a Megadap adapter. So I bought the adapter, waited for the lens to arrive. Now I have the lens too. The thread over there said the adapter was a 'tight fit'. Mine's so tight it won't go on at all. A case of two products at opposite ends of the manufacturing tolerance.

Does the mounting sequence make any difference? Adapter first mounted to the lens vs. first mounted to the camera?
(I have the adapter and it works either way though)

Adapter on lens or adapter+lens on cam.

My Z7 is a tight fit on some lens too. but only have native and adapted canon no sony.
You could try to hold the lens and turn the camera.

Camera makers hold very tight tolerances. Well known lens makers are also good. My guess is the adapter, as I've had problems with third party adapters. Don't over torque the thing as you could damage the camera.

I think the problem is the adapter too. I'm certainly not going to over torque it. I'll probably try another sample of the adapter, and if that doesn't work, give up and sell the lens.

Adapter on lens. It goes on the camera OK.

No difference, the problem is it blocks on the lens, at least up until the amount of torque I'm willing to use.

Hopefully there´s a Z-mount version from Tamron coming in the near future.. I think I´ll skip these adapters :/ . That range and speed would be so nice and useful..

Well, when I found myself with a bit of time after all this fun and games, I took apart the adapter and went to work on it with a Dremel. Once I'd made it fit mechanically I put it back together, and lo and behold it works. My tip to anyone trying to do the same, don't go in for it unless you're prepared for a bit of DIY.
One thing I found doing it is despite Megadap's claim that their adapter is made of stainless steel, it is in fact made of brass.

    Hi,

As I was reading the thread, that idea popped into my head as well. Do a little machine work on the adapter until it worked properly.

But, then I am both a mechanical as well as electrical engineer, with both a machine as well as an electronics shop and am used to producing prototypes.

But I wasn't going to post such here because that would probably result in a wrecked adapter for most folks. However, you have already done so successfully. :)

Excellent. Yep. You experienced Tolerance Stack-Up there. A fairly common issue, actually.

I've had a completely mis-machined adapter. It's almost certainly the problem and you should return it, discard it and replace it. It will wreck something if you don't.
