New camera GFX100RF

I bought a Fuji GFX100RF, today the very first time I went out and wanted to see MF magic (!) I will evaluate the camera for street photography later after I use it a little bit more. In general, I have similar feelings to my X100IV-V. It is not too large, not too difficult to carry around. It has lots of controls, dials, etc. The files are really large, which makes my MacBook Air M2 chip with 16GB of RAM a bit sluggish. As expected, the files are very malleable with plenty of details. I noticed an interesting point: I used ES, and there was an unbelievable amount of rolling shutter effect.

It’s 28mm, and I’m super happy with it, Q2 has the same focal length. That’s why I didn’t keep the X100s (35mm)

magic 🤔its why he is keeping his a6700, i went to a trade show last weekend and had a play with every camera including the sigma block of aluminium ,why anyone would buy it is beyond me. auto focus systems from all brands even the latest pro canon bodies dont even come close to sony even though we are led to beleive differently by reviews, i asked the reps why the largest camera stores in australia dont have carry stock and was told they cant afford it 🤨😒im not kidding i went to 3 large stores 3 weeks ago and shops barely had a single camera or lens. enjoy your new camera.

I figured out you want Electronic First Curtain Shutter on my GFX-100. I thought the RF has a leaf shutter which ought to do quite well.

I cant understand why you dislike this camera that much! If you compare cameras the way you do, most cameras and lenses are just waste of money, space and time. When it comes to the cost, I guess everything is relative. We don't make rational decisions at all times.

Okay, I spent a day using the camera the way I use my Q2. This is how I compare them:
- The RF is a compact camera as much as a MF sensor camera can be. The Q2 feels much more manageable in this respect. I hold the Q2 more comfortably, even though it lacks the grip of the RF. Perhaps a thumb support for the RF could make a difference.
- The RF has a much better AF. The Q2 really annoys me in this department.
- For my style of shooting, the IQ, resolution, and lens quality are irrelevant. I didn’t compare them for this perspective, but it’s obvious that 100MB gives a lot more detail than 40MB.
- The RF has much lower low-light noise compared to the Q2, but the Q2 has a much faster lens. So it all depends on how much DoF you need.
- The RF literally brings my MacBook Air to a crawl. The files of the Q2 are large too, but roughly 80MB compared to 125MB. However, the Q2 still feels a lot quicker.
In the end, I decided to sell the RF and keep the Q2.

from what ive seen and read, people buy it because they can, 😊 what feature of the camera sold you on it 🤔

I buy cameras for a couple of reasons, either they meet my needs and desires or I find the price attractive. RF falls into the second category.

I have zero desire for any fixed-lens camera. I am getting along well with my GFX-100 Mark-I and Pentax 645 lenses. Not that I have much time to use it since I got it a couple months ago. However, work trip is coming up and if I take an extra day, I can hit up the US Air Force museum. Might be a good reason to tote the camera along. I think I'll take the one and only GF lens I own, the.45/2.8 and leave the rest home. Pentax lenses, tripod, monopod, etc. Use it as a fixed lens, so to speak. A super sized RF, as it were. I do have a small flash to go with,.so take only that just in case.
