I am sure you've seen this, but just in case.

Fuji have announced a new medium format camera the GSX100 mk2. The press release is here www.fujifilm.com/de/en/news/hq/9891 and there have been a couple of positive reviews.

They've also announced new GF lenses.

What is the use case for 8 FPS with this camera? I’m honestly asking.

If I still owned my studio, this camera would be fantastic for the work I did with commercial clients/models. But why is the 8 FPS an important feature for this camera? Why is that one of the ‘headline’ features for this MF camera?

I used to do wedding and event work and actually found that the higher the resolution of the camera combined with often super sharp modern lenses just generated more touching up work 😀 High resolution can be a tad cruel to anyone with less than perfect skin which is of course most of us

GIven the enhancement of the video as well, I think Fuji see this as the next step for full frame outdoors and not just in a studio. Plus, it's got all the subject detection of the H2S/H2/T5 so they are moving the goalposts.

I’m still confused as to the use case for 8 FPS. Indoors or outdoors. MF has been used for many decades outdoors (landscapes, etc), nobody cared much about burst rates. Are you suggesting that Fuji wants to turn this MF camera system into something that can shoot, oh, say, birds in flight? An F1 auto race? If that’s what one wanted to do, one would just buy a current generation Sony MILC with its 2.2 Billion frames per second.

Maybe, perhaps, just perhaps, there is some commercial photographer/commercial looking to capture stills of some mountain bikers in action or something and they MUST have a MF camera? Seems like a small niche to me.

Not that there is much of a use case , but I believe that the Fuji MF body has a pixel shift feature , perhaps the 8fps is for multi-shot techniques also focus bracketing etc, It does seem to be a bit overkill for typical uses for such cameras
