No arguments with other users, no hot debates nothing. Just saying that the Leica Q3 images, with it's fixed 28/1.7 lens inspired me, and making a philosophical comparison with Canikon fullframe got my post deleted. My post title was "do you ever peek at the Leica forum". But low and behold, this was posted in the Canon full frame 5D/6D forum, what a TERRIBLE mistake! When I asked it this was normal moderation behaviour to remove posts like this, BOOM post deleted within 10 minutes and I am now sandboxed. Member since 2005, made thousands of posts, posted SO many images, participated in challenges.

DP Review folks are not realizing how damaging MAKO2011 is to themselves and how many users he has driven away from Dpreview.

Quite frankly I just use DPR to ask questions, which due to the big user base, still get answered. It worked for a recent very obscure question about whether the old Nikon 28 and 35 PC lenses should be lubricated at the sliding interface.

If I want to talk about brand comparison, tilt shift lenses, or any of the stuff that causes disagreement, I post here, where things seem much more adult.

Have you written to Admin via the Feedback form at the bottom of the page. It takes a couple of days, but you can usually get reinstated if they feel the moderation has been too harsh. It worked for me a few times when I was victimised by a Fanboy moderator.

It was explained to me that they do not like comments that challenge the beliefs of those emotionally attached to their brand of gear.

Or the belief of the moderator.

I don't see why it is a problem if there is a discussion about the equipment a person uses if it falls out of line with what other people think. It is ones opinion

On another Site (not DPR) I got banned-for-life for arguing technicalities with a Mod. who knew everything and wasn't afraid to say so while slapping someone down. The Mod left and the Site Owner kindly re-instated me. Unfortunately, the new Mod. was equally knowledgeable - so eventually the inevitable happened again.

I think Mods should be arbitrators and monitor behavior rather than being bombastic to unfortunate members. Here is good in that regard.

During an Email exchange with DPR Admin, I was told that I had been banned because "I was upsetting those emotionally attached to their camera system".

Mako is useless. He is biased and the king of the fiefdom. It is pointless to engage with Mako. Trash moderator that was has a huge ego.

I get the feeling that they don't want camera discussion of any other brand, period. So it is nothing against the poster - even if it is a positive comment. Seeing that that is a 5D/6D forum, they may not even want discussion of other canons. I can't be bothered checking, but whatever their policy, it should be displayed as such in the guidelines for that forum.

It's kinda funny, because I read the DPR m43 talk forum and there are some from the Olympus and Panny camps taking shots at each other quite frequently. It is reasonably well behaved most of the time though and a mod will just step in and make a comment if it is getting out of hand. That forum could not exist with a mod like the one being discussed here...

Well that kinda throws my theory out the window... What is it about "Leica" then? Possible that the canonists feel superior to sonyists and therefore permit mention of the name but mention of "Leica" disturbs their cozy comfort?

Guess I'm a victim of Mako as well because I have to keep hearing you people bitch about how awful they are.
