Funny that she just shut down another thread that had another moderator debating with a couple of regulars.I wonder if some of the other moderators will finaly have enough of that attitude...
They are demigods :) you cant ask question as a mere mortal.
Nothing to do with DPR but I was banned from the Leica forum w/o explanation and I had to contact a moderator (found his email on his Flickr account) and asked the reason.
When I attempted to buy Q3, I spent a good 30 minutes in front of the computer and I failed to purchase one, despite I added to my cart and put my card number. Actually I think it failed 3 times. It was an upsetting experience. All Leica needed to do , to keep the item in the customer's cart for 10 minutes to give enough time to complete the purchase, it is a simple arrangement I dont think that it is a complicated thing to achieve and I am sure it wont cost as much a camera costs to a customer as to Leica. Later, they moved to a lottery system, stopped online sales and waiting list in their shops; basically they made a draw when camera was in stock among the people registered their interest online. So you had to be lucky enough to be able to spend £5300 😇
There is a Leica Q3 Waitlist/Stock/Shipment topic in the forum and I expressed my frustration by telling " F topic in the forum and I expressed my frustration by telling " F@ck you very much Leica!" " It is a jackass company" in this topic with exactly this spelling. So I have been told that this was the reason I was banned. Honestly , I dont care and I dont use this forum anymore. But I can see people can be very brand loyal and cant take a minor insult to their beloved camera maker or their cameras.
I understand your take and response, but in this day and age, I don't understand their response to your frustration by banning you. It seems we are going backwards in the world with regards to being able to express oneself. Snowflakes want to rule the world...
It's not until you are banned that you realize that you have zero rights and can be eliminated at will. No trial, no jury, no questions asked by anyone. Is that a society one should conform to? Personally I will not post again in MAKO2011 moderated fora. In the meantime giving the good examples here seems like a good plan, yes. At the same time blowing off steam is so understandable, if you've been made mouth-dead at DPR without any form of discussion.
One doesn't have to be a victim - Mako makes it hard on everyone as in this example: www.dpreview.com/forums/post/67474951
Puzzling attitude because she doesn't like discussion that goes against her opinions. Talk about power tripping. Poor/unreasonable censorship.
It seems to me that the first post in that thread sealed its doom: it was constructed in such a combative manner as to guarantee a punch up by page two and, as the discussion wasnt leading anywhere useful by then, I am not surprised that the thread was locked to prevent unnecessary bloodshed. This is not to say that the moderator concerned always makes fair decisions, since I personally have no evidence in that matter.
I am pleased to note that conversations here are conducted in a less aggressive manner, so that similar interventions are rarely necessary.
I have nothing against strong disagrements being expressed politely and courteously. But discussion in such a manner does not provoke the kind of exchanges that I read in that thread, and I maintain that these were encouraged by the tenor of the opening posting.
