    Hello,

My first daughter will be born in may :) I have recently bought a Canon R6 Mk II & RF 24-70mm F2.8, I also have a good tripod. My concerns are that without good lighting the photos won't look as good, as this camera set can do. I want to make some photos and maybe some short videos. I see 3 ways I can handle the lighting:
    - reflector near the window (but it works only during the day and you have to be near the window)
    - LED always on video light, like one from Godox, etc. (would be also good for videos, bit I have some concerns permanently lighting a sleeping child)
    - a studio flash (only for photos, my wife would have concerns flashing a child with open eyes, although I read that it's better than constant light?)
As I understand I shouldn't point the light source directly at the child. I should use some kind of diffusion so that the light won't be as harsh.
Maybe you have some advice which set would be perfect for home use, that means it should also be easy to hide. And which power do I need. Are those small lights like Colbor CL60 to little for my needs?

So, you have clearly done some research. Good for you!

You have put light in the correct ‘three buckets’ as well.

You CAN do Portrait Lighting with continuous light sources and you can also do video. So, continuous lights may be you best bet if you only want “one kit” that will work well for both.

I might suggest however since “small’ size is important to you that you consider using some speed lights. They are quite cheep, light and small. For your needs I don’t see the need for studio monolight strobes. Set set the speed lights up on a stand, diffuse them, gel them, bounce them off a ceiling or wall, adjust power between a couple of them to wrap/shape the light….. etc. For a little baby, you just don’t need much power and even with a couple of these, you could probably still overpower the sun for a portrait outdoors.

With the speedlights (something like a couple of godox for under $100 each…. One for fill and one as the key…. Trigger with a wire or remote trigger), you can get a few stands and various umbrellas (shoot through, bounce, deep, etc) for probably $10 to $50 each. They fold up like a regular umbrella for easy storage.

As for video lighting sources, I have no experience there and will defer to others. But, that COLBOR you referenced puts out only 65 watts if I read that correctly. That isn’t much. Others can help you here better than I can.

I have a Neewer led light, and it’s really nice. I don’t know the model but it’s square. It’s ac dc and I use it for macro and product photography.

It’s a Neewer 660 Pro. Congratulations on your baby girl.
