The Nikon 105mm f2.5 ais lens is still an excellent lens especially for portraits. Here's one taken with this lens of my Grandson, hopefully the image will be displayed.
Had that lens, all manual but excellent indeed, sold it though as my particular copy did have no smooth focus ring which made it all a bit fidlly to use.
Came across a few 2014 pictures I took with the a3000 + Nikon 105mm f2.5 ais combo. Truly an excellent lens, with very few abberations and easily as good as many modern lenses.
I have two. Both were Pre AI. One is a Type A the other a Type K. Both had their aperture
rings converted to AI. One is a Gaussian and the other a Sonnar. And I can't recall which
is which. Both still work excellent, at least on a Df which is as high a resolution I go in
Small Format. They do render a tad differently from each other.
