    Nikon Z8 with the Nikon Z 24-120/4.0 S for close-up photopgraphy

The Nikon Z 24-120/4.0 S is a great lens for general use with a handsome focal range, high sharpness, fast AF, and excellent VR, but where this lens really excels is for close-up photography...
Two samples, taken yesterday, on a tripod. Converted to jpeg in NikonStudio. Noise reduction set to "off", NO sharpening, NO further post-processing.

I'd say it's the Z8's 46 MP that allows you to crop a lot.
You're very lucky to have this superb Z8 in your hands.

Yes, but the Minimum focus distance of 0.35 m helps a lot...

    Kindest regards,
    Stany

    Indeed, it’s a big plus.
