    Still practicing macro after a long winter without insects. comments and tips would be great. Shot with Sony a7rII and Laowa 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. 1/125sec - iso1000- f/8

    Squash Beetle. They do stink, though. Especially when you squash the thing! ;)

    I like! Nice of the bug to settle on a leaf that complements in patterning, but contrasts in colour.

    Hi,

    I wage a fight to the death with those things. Their death. When I'm not doing anything better, which is often according to my wife, I am helping her grow gourds for arts and crafts. And gourds are in the squash family. And are like hot dogs to those bugs.

    But, yes, it was nice of the little stinker to pick a color coordinated leaf for your photo there. :)

    I think they’re called shield bugs here, as their body is shaped like one, and apparently harmless, unlike Lilly and lavender beetles which destroy the flower, ours come in green or brown
