May I suggest that, if the post remains "unapproved", then certain members who are bent on wreaking havoc here have won - to the great detriment of this site.

For what I know is a "slow" measure I received it as well as posting in that toxic thread.
So nobody can post more than... say 1 post every 5 minutes.
That is usually to avoid flames rising and sustained fire :-D
I'm not sure the "sandboxing" is working properly because twice now I posted in the Dumpster, the posts were visible publicly for a while and then sandboxed. One is visible publicly as of this post.
I suspect there is cron job running in the background sandboxing posts in the Dumpster but it's not working properly.
That's interesting. I was just searching today along those exact lines and that name popped up 😉
Anyway, you might find that admin are keeping a close eye on who can post in there. Give them a bit of time to approve a few things I would imagine.

Mea culpa. The 'Dumpster' category is a bit experimental. It's supposed to be a non-lethal way of dealing with side conversations which divert threads. When I set it up, I wondered whether we should use the 'sandbox' feature, so I set it on, partially to see how it worked. That was for the whole forum, not in individuals - so it's not you that got sandboxed, just the category as a whole. Alan rightly disagreed and turned it off, so it should be OK now.
The good thing about this 'sandboxing' is that it doesn't stop you sending pms.

When I went to work for IBM in 1981, the idea was to be part of the 5150 design team. Aka the Personal Computer. Which was really about the fifth generation of computers to be used by an individual. What was different, was this one was chock full of parts not made by IBM in-house. Made it a lot less costly.
But, that meant testing components from other makers. That meant specialist test gear. One of which was made by Fairchild. It was known as a Sentry.
And this thing booted up using Hollerith cards. Yep. Punch cards. That gave it enough brains to work the 9 track open reel tape drive. Now it had enough smarts to work a hard disk pack where the component test program lived.
Looks like a Borg Cube. This one has dual component test stations.
And we used these to test the 8088 processor chips along with many other components.
But, boy! Was I ever surprised by the presence of those punch cards in 1981!

I started with punched cards in 1971. By 1981 I had 2 IBM PCs to play with plus a load of Data General kit that used floppies to boot from (although you had to bootstrap it from the front console using switches). In 1982, we got our first VAX 11/780, and I got the first Compaq luggable in the country (imported it from the USA and fixed the power supply so it would run off 240v)
